I convinced my wife to let me buy a Nikon D600 !

Just gotta sell my D7000 and my 17-55 2.8

Then get the D600 and a 24-85mm to replace it. Should end up making $100 from it. Buying all used of course

I don't mind not having the 2.8 I usually only use that lens for automotive and group shots, and I can use my 50mm if I need some blurry bits
Im just glad after the 17-55mm I started making sure the next 2 lenses I bought were FX lenses

The D600 comes with all the accessories and the box and has just under 19,500 actuations.

Very excited to see what I can do with it when it comes in:)

any reason why you are not looking at the D610? To my knowledge there is not a big price difference anympore and if memory serves me correct the D600 was plagued by shutter problems.

Yeah is was mostly the price, as used D610 with accessories was $1200 and the D600 I got from a Nikon dealer was only $950.

I read about all the shutter problems, but I also saw that Nikon will replace it even if its out of warranty, and there is no cost involved, so id be ok with doing that if was a problem with this camera

In the UK the D610 is quiet a bit more expensive, and with what Nikon have said you should be ok with the 600

You might miss the 17-55 more than you think. I had one on my D7000 and sold it when I added my D600 and the 24-70. Also bought the 24-85 as a lightweight walk around zoom. While the 24-85 is a nice kit lens, it's not in the same league as a pro 2.8 zoom. You have to do a bit of foot zooming to make a nifty fifty equal a 24-70 and sometimes you can only back up so far. Good luck. You'll love the D600. I've loved mine for 2 years with no issues.

Try and hang on to your D7000 IMHO, that and the D600 make a great and potent kit....

Big fan of having FX with a DX backup/alternate......sell some other stuff, keep your photo gear!!

Yeah I wish I could keep it, but that was one of the agreements for me to be able to upgrade, was that it wasn't gonna cost us any money.

Maybe later ill buy one again, the price was $700 when I bought it a year or so ago, and now they are selling for $500, so maybe Ill get a better deal on one in another year. We are having our first kid this summer so that is also affecting my decision to not spend the extra money right now.

Before deciding to get the 24-85 I was thinking about the sigma 24-70, and its not a bad price so I might be able to get it later. My other 2 lenses are Sigma and they are great, I have nothing against non-Nikon lenses after owning them. I think the only time I used the 17-55 at 2.8 was for star pictures, which I will miss until I can upgrade.

Wow, prices really dropped in just a year.... but yea, we still get free shutters if they oil up and I'm sure a fresh 610 if the problem recurs enough times.

Just got it in! The ISO performance is amazing compared to my D7000! I love it!!!

I also forgot how helpful VR is with the 24-85mm all my other lenses don't have it, and I haven't used one since my 18-55 lens, its neat seeing it stabilize when you focus

Here are 100% crops unedited. Here is my D7000 at ISO 6400
