I did it ! I am now in the Nikon family. I hope I can be accepted. I purchased a Nikon D610 with a battery grip and a 16-35mm F4 lens. What lens should I buy now? And what flash should I get? I do portraits and real estate. I would like to build a good system. What about the 85mm 1.4, 135mm F 2.0 etc.

Which are good professional prime lenses to invest in?

Sounds good Jerry, I have a 28-70mm F2.8 that compliments my 16-35mm....85mm F1.4 should work a treat on the D610...

Congrats my brother.

I would suggest the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8G lens for your indoor shots, Nikon SB910 flash, and a good tripod to get even sharper images.

It's good to have another fellow traveler. :)

You're new to the forums, and ALREADY... I don't like you.

Well, ok, you can ignore that 1st statement. It's just the jealousy speaking. ;) Welcome to the fun!!

Welcome to Nikonites. I'm certain that you will enjoy your D610.

Now for the serious question about what lens you need. For real estate interiors, you probably need the 14-24. You probably would want to shoot flash and bounce it, so a SB700 would be great. You probably would need a sturdy tripod if you want to do HDR interiors or panoramas inside the houses.

Good luck.

It would be an awful miss, not to get yourself a decent prime(s) like 50mm 1.8D. But, for portraits, go for Nikon 85mm 1.8D or a macro lenses within the 90-105mm f/2.8 range (Nikon, Tokina, Tamron)...

The 85mm 1.4g is the best portrait lens in my opinion....

For portraits I also swear by the 85mm f1.4G but the 85mm f1.8G is equally superlative. For real estate the 14-24mm is an excellent choice however I would consider, if you are interested in the absolute best image quality (although the 14-24 is superb in its own right), the 24mm f1.4G is amazing (and is next on my own shopping list).

But for an interior shot of a house, a lens is never wide enough. Remember, the realtor wants to make the house larger than it really is so IMHO the 14-24 IS the lens to get.

Ahhh true....although beyond a certain point you will have distortion creeping into the image...I was thinking more about that than coverage. Most of the time I would think that the 24 should be able to provide adequate coverage, and the 24 1.4G has minimal distortion if kept level. You don't often see real estate images taken at ultra-wide angles.
