D610 Live View Question.

Hi I am doing some Macro work in my home and when I look through the viewfinder and set my D610 to the aperture and shutter speed I then turn on live view to acquire my focus manually but it is completely dark, why is that?

That is the actual exposure set by your stopped down aperture and shutter speed. Pressing the OK button is a toggle, to see a brighter view or not.

Thanks, just moved over from Canon to Nikon and live view is different, Actually I stopped my 105 VR lens to 2.8 so I could see where to focus then went out of live view and stopped the lens down to f16 and took the picture, I will try what you wrote tonight.

The ok button does nothing, does anyone in here know the trick or how do you focus with live view mode???

Using you predetermined aperture and shutter speed, adjust your ISO up to make the screen brighter. Adjust your focus manually and use the plus button to zoom in the view.

Return the ISO back to desired value, turn off live view and turn off VR as required.

Sorry, I guess the D600 may be different. The D800 has this section in the Live View description. I assumed it was more universal.

Exposure Preview
During live view photography, you can
press OK to preview the effects of shutter
speed, aperture, and ISO sensitivity on
exposure.
