Now that I look at it, I guess I wouldn't crop it, as his head is almost square in the middle. Just looks a little off center at first with his/her big body taking up the whole right side, haha. The zoo is more fun when it's cold, things move.
I used lightroom 4. I moved Contrast and Shadows up, Highlights down. I added a bit of exposure (I used a pretty fast shutter speed I think, so it was a tad dark). The contrast helped bring up the detail in the grass and tree and give a little pop to the orange in him.
Here is a screen-shot. This is the setting I use for a "HDR" image.. I think it turns out REALLY good. Some pictures this doesn't work too well, especially people, but I think for some scenes it does.
