D600 Owners Unite! Discuss and Post Photos
mods, can we have a sticky? It'd be great to post shots and discuss settings, lighting, and give/receive advice. I think we can learn a lot from each other and I hope everyone's as thrilled about owning a D600 as I am

    taken with 85mm and 50mm 1.8 . f/2.2, iso100, 1/160. PP in lightroom

This was the first time I used off-camera lighting. For the second shot, the flash is behind me on a table pointing straight up. I did leave out the built-in bounce card on the NEEWER TT560 ($40 manual flash). I used the Yongnuo RF-603 wireless triggers which I'm sure many of you have heard of/used. Not sure what exactly the newer YN-622C does better...maybe iTTL?

I'm planning on getting a main flash to use on camera (and off)... I need it for events like weddings in the future, so I'm guessing either SB-800 or 900.

There is a D600 section that is just for that so I don't see what good would a "sticky" bring. Just feel free to open a new thread in the D600 section and post there once in a while to keep it open and alive.

Thanks for participating. I'll try to post some pics when I get a little more time but I do post some in my 365 thread.

    Enjoy your Nikon!

I think so. There are already quite a few of us with the D600. If you look at my Gallery, all my Vietnam pictures (link) were done with the D600. I've had to take care of a sick parent last week but I'll try to post something here next week for sure.

    Thanks for the interest.

cool, I'll check it out. I guess the D600 is still a new camera. You should see the community for the 6D forums, though

    marcel,
Your photos of vietnam are magnificent, the compositions moving, the colors vibrant and gorgeous.
Hyogen, your photos are wonderful as well, especially the drummer photo. Great use of lighting -
both of your photos make me want to shoot more and get better.
    Thanks for sharing them.

Here are a few I did today with my 50$ 28-80 3.3-5.6 lens. It's plastic but sharp and very light. I often just put it on the camera when I go for a walk.

These following pics are ones I took in seattle in less than ideal light. I know I should have at least used fill flash, but this is the best I could PP them in lightroom. Not very pleased with them. I mainly want the skin tones to look right, but that may not be possible with the yellowish street lights. As you can see some I PP'd to be a little more magenta and some a little more yellow.

Could you guys give me some advice about how I could have made these shots better? Also, how you would have taken them without flash. (I don't like using the built-in flash...maybe I'll look into a pop-up diffuser for it).

I'm pretty sure I shot around iso5000, f/1.8 or 2, and possibly 1/60 or so shutter speed. I think I realized that 1/50 shutter speed for a 50mm lens isn't quite fast enough for me in all situations

I could even post the RAW files if anyone is willing to have a go at them.

What I SHOULD do in the future is use a flash/diffuser....expose for the background....underexpose for the background a little?

    Thanks!
