Sounds like it is showing lost highlights. To return to normal image playback, press the Multi Selector up or down to cycle through the image info screens until it returns to the normal viewing mode.

That may not solve the problem at hand. U may need to play with exposure compensation to actually fix the problem. Over exposure, sounds like the problem.

But it DID solve the problem........

Yes, my instruction on how to return to normal image playback did solve the problem of how to stop seeing the lost highlight overlay, but waapl01 does raise a valid point; it does not solve the issue that causes lost highlights in the first place, that being over-exposure. The lost highlight overlay is a tool built into your camera that when used can lead to more properly exposed, and thereby better, pictures.

Thanks for that agreement lenswork, I'm still new to this hobby, I'm 54 yo, maybe when I'm 90 yo I'll have this stuff somewhat figured out. Just enjoying the ride tho!!

When shooting at someting really bright like trees/landscape with the sun shining thru or a car bumper chrome with the suns reflection. Best bet is to take a pic review it and adjust exposure compensation, take another pic review and again adjust as necessary.
