HELP! Nikon D60 MIrror Box Repair?

Hi! Good Day!

I just want to seek advise regarding my Nikon D60's mirror box.

It all started when my Shutter release malfunctioned resulting to an ERROR that says "Press Shutter Release Button Again."I had to click it about a hundred times the first time before the shutter released. After about 10 shots however, it registered the same Shutter Release Error. So i clicked again hundreds of times, it worked again, for about 5 shots. Then Error again. I spent all night pressing it, removing lense, puting it back, charging the battery, using a different battery-- There was no sign that it's going to get fixed! I went to sleep with a heavy heart.

In the morning when I woke up- I read a few forums, saw videos, one of which is the most popular, opening the bottom plate and moving the red gear/wheel-- which I cannot do because I don't have the right tools to open it. So I checked for other fixes... I saw a post about tinkering something inside the box-- but didn't fully understand. I know I shouldn't have done and explored-- But it happened. :( I didn't really think It will get pushed inside and not come back. :< I thought it was some sort of a button that goes back to original position when you're not pressing it anymore. I apparently pushed the "pin" that is supposed to stop the mirror halfway.. now it goes all the way back. (and won't fold-unfold/close-open when shutter is released.) I know it is really my fault for tinkering with stuff instead of bringing it to a repair shop.

And just my luck, after my clumsiness with the mirror box, resulting into a bit of panic and I depression-- I clumsily bumped it to my bed's headboard. And I heard a click. The Shutter Released. And it seemed like it's back to working like normal. :( I already tried about 30 random shots and it's still working fine, well, with the half pic, half black result. :(

So... Now I have a new problem... That PIN that I buried deep inside inside its' own hole. :(

Any thoughts on how it will be fixed? Or can it be fixed? Would the repairman have access to the pint to push it back to where it was supposed to be? Or I am just really doomed that perhaps the mirror box needs replacement? If it can still be fixed when opened-- Where do you guys suggest that I Bring it? I am from Caloocan-Quezon City-Manila Area, I live near Trinoma. (Philippines).

Thanks for reading! I would really appreciate any kind of response or assistance. :'(

And apologies for the long post. :(

Hi! I'm stressed po. :( I have read reviews about the one in Megamall, (by any chance, are you referring to that?) The reviews are gruesome. *le sigh* I'm thinking of buying a second hand SLR instead should the price range be too high-- after-all my D60's flash won't also Fire anymore. And Thank you for your suggestion po.

Yeah, im talking about the one in sm. Ok, did not hear about the bad reviews. mmmm, you may be better off with good second hand cam. But, i would at least ask magkano for repair.

The reviews were mostly talking about their incapacity to actually fix it, taking months and months with no one even daring to touch their cam. I have read good reviews with an affiliated company located in Cubao. Maybe I'll try there instead. I've read reviews that it's not too expensive-- but then that was back in 2011-2012. I guess I'll just post update! Salamat po!

My greatest fear is that it will cost you almost as much to repair your D60 as it would cost to purchase a new 3100

How much would a 3100 cost nowadays? :'( This is actually a cam I inherited from my brother. And as much as possible I want to get it fixed-- because it's my own fault after all. I guess I just need a little assurance that I can get that mirror stopper (I do not really know how it is rightfully called) to be put back into place. :'( My Greatest Fear is that it Can't be fixed, or that they will refuse to fix it. I really hope something can be done about it. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks! :)
