display screen will not work when docked

I've been using a Nikon D5500 for about a year without any issues, but recently the touchscreen display stopped working when it's docked. When I flip the screen out, it works fine again.
I reset all the settings to factory, changed the battery and made sure everything was charged, but nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas?

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

Sounds like a loose electrical connection. Since you have had this camera for about a year, it should still be under warranty and I would send it in to the camera doctor.

Howdy and welcome to Nikonites!

Brent has the best advice ... it sounds like a loose connection and should get checked out by an authorized shop since it should still have warranty if purchased new.

Welcome to the forum. As has already been stated, it sounds like a connection problem. Broken wire, etc. Eventually even moving the LCD will probably not be a work-around.

I figured that would be the case, but I was holding out hope for a quicker fix. I'm a writer/editor/photographer for a mid-size weekly newspaper, so being without a camera for more than a day or two is not ideal. As there aren't any camera shops in the area, it looks like I'll be sending it away. Thanks for all the advice!
