Fresh off the UPS truck. My first DSLR

I'm still in the middle of unboxing my kit and charging the batteries. D5500 with AF-S DX Nikkor 18-300 f3.5-6.3G ED VR lens. It's a kit that comes with a nice bag, tripod, lens cleaning kit, lens filters, flash, SD card, HDMI mini cable, charger and extra battery. Around 13 items total in the kit. I also had a MB700 camera carrier best arrive at the same time. I did upgrade the plastic camera hub to metal.
I'm setting up the camera right now as I'd like to get a few shots in before the sun sets. I call her "Ginger". LOL

I few of the kit stuff are on the cheaply side like the tripod. I'll just set it aside. I have several better quality tripods from when I had my Canon camcorder. As times passes, I'll switch some of the stuff out for better quality items. This is my first dslr. I know the UPS guy...before he even had the truck stopped I was already boarding the truck. He was laughing. He owns two Canon camera's and loves to take wildlife pics so he understood my excitement.

Congrats - I was about to ask if the UPS guys have any idea as to how happy they make photographers.
This one clearly does! :)

Nice camera. And the 18-300mm is a terrific lens. I've been playing with it of late and am more impressed all the time. You've got a great setup. Enjoy.

Thanks. The sun had already set so I didn't have a lot of light left but I had to go out and try it out.
First pic is at 18mm and the other ones at 300mm. On Auto I believe.

Looks to me as though you are quickly getting the hang of things. You have some nice photos here; thanks for sharing them. The D5500 is a solid camera with more bells and whistles on it than you are likely to use in the first month, anyway. :)

Thank you. Doing my best trying to stay away from using the auto mode. I'm working on taking better pics in low light conditions.

I've been fiddling with the ISO. Just having fun with it and reviewing the info. I never done that with the cheap camera's I had prior. Still browsing this forum and learning the lingo you folks use. I don't have streaming internet so the only time I can browse camera lessons online is when I'm near the big city and I'm on my cell phone. I have satellite internet and I'm limited to bandwidth usage per month. Main goal is to have fun.
