why do I have to tidy up pics?

If the D5500 is so good, then why do I need to put all my shots through Perfecly Clear to 'tidy them up'?

Does any Nikonite know why one needs to use Perfectly Clear to 'enhance' photos say taken by the latest Nikons, say the D5500. If so, why can't Perfectly Clear be uploaded in the D5500 or is there a similar program? I still haven't gone to digits from my F80 and velvia50, but the D5500 looks Ok in Vivid and saturation 3 with an 81A!! I want to shoot, not fiddle.

One should certainly not need to do what you are doing.

Am I assuming you are shooting JPG? I don't personally shoot in JPG but I keep hearing the "rule" is to run up the sharpness to +7-9.

What aspects of the images are you unhappy with?

Not 100% sure what your saying but it sounds like your camera needs setting up for Jpeg, its a once only thing

If you are shooting JPG I would suggest that you use the Fine>>Large setting and also set your camera for better sharpness.

Go into your Menus and highlight the "Shooting" menu (the camera icon)

Drop down to "Picture Controls" and click right one time.

From here, highlight "Standard" and then click right one time.

From this settings menu, increase the "Sharpness" setting to "7".

Drop down and increase the "Saturation" setting +1 notch on the slider.

Press "OK" to exit the menus and you're done.

The above is a good starting point, you can always tweak it until you get just what you want then leave it alone

Welcome,as i said in your other thread the camera is a great little unit,it just needs you to understand how to set it to give you what you want, its gone past the point and shoot type camera so some input from you is needed.

Maybe its the person using the camera that needs to work on their skills not the camera.

What is it, precisely, that Perfectly Clear can do that no other post app can do, and why do you need to do it to every image?
Don't mind me... I'm out roaming around somewhere between Zone III and VII.
