No, it says this camera will probably not be the only one announced in early 2015. So the D7200 might also be announced then.

They're pretty quick releasing new models.

A touch screen, that's what I really need. Not only can I then light up the LCD with my nose, I can change settings too. ;)

I don't see the advantage of touch screen. I prefer physical buttons that I can use without looking - And I still manage to press the menu button on my D7100 with my nose! Now a tilting / rotating screen, that is a worthy feature in my mind that should be on all models from the D5xxx upwards.

Not a big fan of the touch-screen either... I simply prefer the tactile feedback I get from a button instead of stabbing the screen with my shutter-presser. But, all the cool kids are doing them so if Nikon wants to stay relevant they pretty much HAVE to start offering them.

The trend is indeed that if it doesn't have a touch screen it must be outdated crap. I see the use of it on a phone even while I myself dislike even that.

But on a cam it's pretty useless. Even when using live to shoot, what's there to touch all the time? I have a touchscreen monitor since ages. It seemed cool when I bought it. Guess how often I use it these days? What it did most was make me clean.

Unless they add a "lock" function to the LCD, it's going to be more of an annoyance than advantage.

The other problem with touch screens is a thing called "Winter" that many of us have to live through once a year, meaning we have to wear gloves, and these iGloves for touch screens are nice and trendy, but unfortunately, not warm!

It will be interesting to see what the D7200 will feature. I'm hoping for a lot of good changes, but because Nikon is just calling it the D7200 instead of the D9300, I'm sure it won't leapfrog way ahead of the D7100. I'm sure it will probably have wi-fi, and probably GPS. I pretty much find GPS useless though. I can't see any real benefit to it. Maybe some of you that have used it can enlighten me. I haven't had a camera that had it yet, so I'm speaking from the toilet bowl when I say that. lol

Just something else to break. More $$ to fix.
Perhaps designed by a junior engineer to justify his job there.

I'll take a real button any day.

4 is an unlucky number in Japanese culture and Nikon does not need anymore bad luck. It will be interesting to see what they pack into the D5500.

If ime honest i cant think of what would make me pay up for a D7200,at first i thought a larger buffer but now i dont have a problem with mine,wi-fi and gps absolutely no interest in those, tilting LCD no use to me my camera stays on the 150-600,i guess the only thing i can think of is 1600 iso that looks like my current 400 iso.
Just thought better faster AF

Yeah, I'll probably still just get the D7100 and the wifi adapter. Much cheaper and still incredibly capable.

As soon as i get the 7100 the end of Jan. or 1st couple weeks of Feb. they will release a 7200 that makes the 7100 obsolete with a major price drop.

Unless the D7200 is a camera they brought back from 20 years in the future, the D7100 will be far from obsolete.

I don't have a Nikon GPS, but I do use an app on my phone which creates a track file which imports in to Lightroom. I find it very useful, but not all of the time..... I recently went on a trip to Chester & North Wales, and over the week I took maybe 800 photos in places I wasn't familiar with - So being able to tag all the shots and place them on a map automatically on my return home was very useful - Especially those landscapes you get where you pull the car over, take some shots in the middle of nowhere then set off again!

Its not something I use all the time, but holidays and long trips, they are very useful.

I was looking at the 5300 and the 7100 for a new camera in the new year, now the 5500 and 7200 are due I might just wait and see what prices they are, unless I can get a good deal on a 7100.

More useless bells and whistles that will add nothing to the quality of pictures taken with the camera. Unbelievable! But...some will actually buy this just because it's the "latest" technology!
