No, it says this camera will probably not be the only one announced in early 2015. So the D7200 might also be announced then.

They're pretty quick releasing new models.

A touch screen, that's what I really need. Not only can I then light up the LCD with my nose, I can change settings too.

I don't see the advantage of touch screen. I prefer physical buttons that I can use without looking - And I still manage to press the menu button on my D7100 with my nose! Now a tilting / rotating screen, that is a worthy feature in my mind that should be on all models from the D5xxx upwards.

Not a big fan of the touch-screen either... I simply prefer the tactile feedback I get from a button instead of stabbing the screen with my shutter-presser. But, all the cool kids are doing them so if Nikon wants to stay relevant they pretty much HAVE to start offering them.

Re: New Nikon D5500 With Touch Screen Coming In Early 2015

The trend is indeed that if it doesn't have a touch screen it must be outdated crap. I see the use of it on a phone even while I myself dislike even that.

But on a cam it's pretty useless. Even when using live to shoot, what's there to touch all the time? I have a touchscreen monitor since ages. It seemed cool when I bought it. Guess how often I use it these days? What it did most was make me clean.

Unless they add a "lock" function to the LCD, it's going to be more of an annoyance than advantage.

The other problem with touch screens is a thing called "Winter" that many of us have to live through once a year, meaning we have to wear gloves, and these iGloves for touch screens are nice and trendy, but unfortunately, not warm!
