Filename change

Is there a way to change the filename of the pictures as they are being taken on the D5300. Instead of DSC_XXXX.jpg, I would like something like MM-DD-YYYY_HH:MM:SS_XXX.jpg?

Not in-camera. Only in post.

Do you know of a program to do this in batches from the meta data of the photo?

I typically rename on import, but this also covers how to rename within a catalog or collection as well.

I rename all mine on Import into Lightroom.

I usually do as well, but somehow my event workflow got messed up and I had a lot of duplicate named files. Quick resort based on capture time, and then renamed while in the catalogue. But yeah, much better to get it right the first time versus doing the same work twice.

I've tried with every new version of Lightroom to replace the functionality of Downloader Pro to no avail. This post from 2010 still holds true and why I continue to use Downloader Pro.
