This little bar is the bane of my existence.

Oh man - I've just been dealing with it for a while, but stuff is creeping into my frame and ruining my shots... how do I get rid of this little bar on the bottom with all the info?

You mean the manual doesn't cover that? ;)

It's just the file name and some of the info re: the pic (date/time/format). It won't show up in the actual picture. Have you downloaded the pic and viewed it then?

Your choice, press up or down on the cursor ring until you get a screen with nothing. On your way around the horn you can find all the other things the manual tells you about your display. You should really read it.

Not only did I read the little manual that came with the camera, but I also printed the much larger PDF manual that goes a lot deeper into the camera use and settings that the little one. I am still reading it, because there is so much to learn.

Why not read it? That is how I can answer questions for others. Ha!!

FWIW, not only do I read the manuals, I reread them, then read them again, then have them handy for future perusal.

And to top it off, I have .PDFs of all the manuals for all my gear on all my devices (desktop, laptop & phone).

If you own a DSLR and have never read a manual then you should be barred from asking any questions about your camera or any other until you do. Do you have to read every manual? No. But you need to read one. The only exception is the Sony A6000 which merely lists everything your eye can see and does not explain anything (apparently there's a better one they do not include in the box but you can download the PDF).

Is there fluff and more than obvious stuff in there? Yes. But the keys to unlocking your photography (which is why you bought the thing, right?!) are all in there, at least by way of introduction. And for god's sake, if you can't be bothered to read it at least download the free PDF and do a cursory search in it for the answer to your question. It's what most of us wind up doing for you since we don't own that camera. It's called learning, and when we stop learning we start dying.
