D5200 is coming soon!

almost surprised that a 5200 is coming out, but good for Nikon to keep such a full lineup available for every budget and imaginable use. Looks like they will have their consumer and semi-pro users well covered. Now onward to the very high End, maybe a D5?

I am thinking a D4x with a much higher MP sensor to compete with Canon's rumored 46mp 1D something.

It looks like people that want a fine camera, at a discounted price, should wait for the D5200 to come out....... then search for the D5100 deals. The specs on the D5200 aren't that great. When the D5100 kit starts selling for >$500, it will be the best bargain on the market. Even the D3200 will drop in price. In any case, this move will benefit the consumer.

Bad photographers always blame their body :p

I believe that some people think that a better camera will make them a better photographer.

46 megapixels won't make a better photographer.

An FX camera won't make a DX photographer better.

People have to learn composition first and foremost.

Nationally recognized photographers, from Brady to Adams, didn't have a half-percent of the technology we now use.

I saw an exhibit where the photographer did a whole show with a disposable camera.

With that said, better software will provide better results, making a good photo a better photo.

But if you put the same software in the wrong hands… then not so sure it will be better.

I've had my D5100 for 6 months now, and I probably haven't even touched on using it masterfully yet.
Still learning so much, some basic stuff, some advanced stuff...

If someone gave me a D5200 (or even a D700/D600/D800) my pictures would not be any better than they are now.
In a few years, that statement might change a little, but by then I would hope that my skills have grown to the point where I have outgrown the features that the D5100 currently provides me. Of course by then we'll be on the D5500 (or whatever its called then :p )

Having a good camera and good lenses may not make you a good photographer but it sure helps. Nikon seems to be spitting these new models out rapidly. That sort of scares me.

Agreed, today's gear certainly helps, but it can't replace our own eyes and brain. As for spitting out these new models, it seems that they want to update the two lower end DSLRs once a year, flitering down to updating the big guns every three years or so. I'm not sure about this new D5200, to wait and buy it or buy a second D5100, as i really think the D5100 is one of the best Nikons in their whole line up. I've hardly touched my D7000 since owning the smaller, lighter version!
