How to pair up an off camera flash

Hi everyone,
Sorry if this has been posted before, i have a third party off camera flash that wirelessly can pair with my D5200. I set it to slave just fine. Its the in-camera settings that I cant figure out. I go to control settings menu, bracketing/flash. Then to e1 Flash Control for built in flash. There's only 2 settings there: Manual and TTL. Where do I setup the Group and the channel number?

The only way you can control an off-camera flash with the D5200 (no commander mode) is to use a flash that has an optical trigger, or use a pair of radio triggers on the camera/flash... All you can do is select between TTL/Manual on-camera flash... The group/channel functions are in the commander modes of the select Nikon cameras that support CLS.

I dont have a "Commander Mode" all I have is TTL or Manual

You are correct about not having a commander mode., I just looked it up. I posted earlier how my D7000 would do it and thought it would be the same but it isn't. Sorry about that.

no apology needed, thanks for replying. I called my local photo store and they fixed me. Just like you said, i need an optical trigger which this flash does. Called "Optical Slave" instead of "Slave". I tried it and it worked! Thanks again
