ML-L3 Unit

Hi all this is my first stab at a forum so please be kind.
Here is my problem.........when using the remote ML-L3 unit it always times-out after just 1 minute of inactivity which is hopeless for my needs. I used this same unit with my now defunct D80 and it remained active for 15minutes , am I missing something?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Actually for remote shots I prefer the WMU app and WiFi adapter.. The ML-L3 seems to only work from the from the front of the camera while the WMU works from about anywhere. It also locks the mirror up for my lowlight/night shots

Yes I realize that. That is why you have to point it at the front sensor.. I will still use it from time to time, but it would make more sense if you could use it on all Nikons from the rear. I personally will use the WMU more than the ML-L3.

I rarely use Nikon's WMU app. I call it WimpWare as it's nothing more than a remote trigger. I prefer DSLRDashboard.
