Hello fellow Nikon lovers, I own a D5100 and im looking for a new lens.
I do a lot of videos and stabilizer helps a lot as well as zoom.

I have the
original 18-55 (Good lens but not sharp enough for me)
35mm 1.8f (I love the sharpness and boke but boke seems to be too extreme in some cases)
Tokina 12-24mm f/4 (Not a big fan. picture quality is too low for me)

I would probably be looking at another zoom lens. but looking to step up the game a little bit
is there any lens people would recommend here?

THanks!!

search this site for "nikon lens simulator" posted by wjyphoto. Look at the 16-85mm or 18-105mm, 16-85mm is new is new so
you will probably pay full price 18-105mm you can find used for $250 or less.

I'd say the 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 too - they're £425 ($~650) new so well within budget, but a little over your required max focal length.

If you can find a good used one, then the 17-55mm f/2.8 might be another option (Adorama has one in mint condition at $950).
Or possibly even the 16-35mm f/4, but again to fit your budget you may have to look for a used one.

Second hand Nikon 17-55 2.8 would be my choice. You probably could get one for about 850. The other 150 should be spent on a 50mm 1.8 G.

My .02 $

a bit over your budget, but say 16-35 F4 that has the built in stablizer, some sites say sharp, other sites not. I don't have one,

another good lens is the 60mm,

now im debating between
[h=2]16-35mm f/4G
and
17-55mm f/2.8G[/h]
with video im leaning towards 16-35 since it has vr.
Is there any other lens i should be considering in this price range?
