Audio: Turn off AGC

I understand I can turn off the d5100’s Automatic Gain Control (AGC). I can’t find out where to do this though. Can you lead me the right way?

I’m experiencing rather bad audio (hiss, background noise) when I’m using my d5100+røde videomic in interviews. I’ve read that adjusting (or turning off) the AGC can help.

I'm pretty sure that you cannot turn off the AGC per say. You can adjust the mic level sensitivity. It defaults to auto, which is essentially AGC, so you should try the other settings to find the best one for your mic. It's in the shooting menu under the Movie settings. I also know that a lot of people have send their D5100s back for repair because of high background hiss so keep that in mind. It should be nice and quiet. Also make sure that you are listening on your computer. The built in speaker on the camera always has a high amount of hiss.

Sorry, Tobrew is correct. No AGC adjustment is possible. You can only adjust how sensitive the mic is while recording with "off" being an option as well. x2 that listening through the camera is "hissy".
