D5100 & WIFI-can they work together?

I have a 5100 that I enjoy very much. I also take pics from my Android phone which are automatically uploaded to Amazon & Google photos. This Android feature is very convenient. OTOH I have to manually remove the SD card from the 5100 to transfer the data into my PC (Windows 10) for upload. I was recently lamenting this inconvenience when someone overheard me & told me that I just needed a WIFI chip for my 5100 & that would solve my problem. I did a search on this forum & saw that it is not quite that convenient but almost. I found that the WIFI chip does not transfer photos to the Cloud but transfers them to your PC when requested by the PC. That would still be very convenient as it would eliminate the chip transfer. Is this true? I didn't find that much about it but I would appreciate finding just what I can do with this super camera as far as WIFI is concerned. Thanks for any help.

Are you talking about the Flash Air card by Toshiba? I can't answer your question, but I think most people here just use a card reader since most shoot RAW and edit their images.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

I agree with Dawg Pics. Also, from everything I have heard, WiFi transfer is very slow.

Thanks for replying. From the info given it I found a 2016 review by Thorin Klosowski & it sounds like the ElyeFi & the Flash Air are 2 options. The Eye Fi looks like it is the choice for me because it can transfer to the phone & cloud. There is 1 unsolved issue with me however: I have an Android phone & use Message+ to text & send pictures. As I said before I upload pictures taken on my 5100 to Amazon & Google photos (each is a separate upload) & they appear on my phone in each of those Apps. However, they are not available to send on my phone with Message+ but can easily be texted with Amazon & Google so what's the problem? The problem is that some of the recipients have difficulty viewing them because they do not have Google & Amazon. My question is: if the Eye Fi can transfer to the phone will those pictures be available to Message+ as if they were taken by the phone camera?
