Upgraded/Extra memory cards for my D5100

I'm looking to upgrade and add to my collection of memory cards. OK, I currently have only 1 - a SanDisk Extreme 32GB, 45MB/s card.

I am currently getting really into time lapse photography, which requires fast and high-capacity cards. My 32GB works well, but I know I'll be shooting time lapses that shoot a lot more photos than that can store.

Looking at Nikon's list of Approved SD cards for the D5100, it lists a 64GB has its largest size, but that page was last updated in 3/2013, so I wonder if newer 128GB or larger cards are acceptable/work?

Also, does the D5100 support and take advantage of the higher speed cards, like those doing 95MB/s?

Thanks for your help.

In checking the KB on Nikon it states the same thing. SDXC cards can be used up to 64GB and it was last updated in 2013. The only other suggestion would be to find someone who would be willing to let you try their 128GB in your camera or just buy one to try. It would be nice if you did buy one that if it didn't work you could use it in something else ie backup for your tunes. Ha!

Mojave,

If you provided your location in your profile, perhaps someone with a higher density card near you would let you try it in your camera.
