Hi guys ..

Im trying to use Manual Mode, so i can control aperture and shutter speed .

When the exposure is 1/6 seconds i want the apreture to be f/5.6 but it won't happen.

It changes by itself each time i change the shutter settings !!

Lets say I'm in Manual mode, i will use the dial first to adjust my Exposure, right ?
Then which button should i use to adjust my Aperture since the dial is for exposure ?

On the D5100, when in "M"anual mode, you set the aperture using the Command Wheel all by itself. To adjust the shutter speed you press and hold the Exposure Compensation button while turning the Command Wheel. Or vice versa... I forget which.

In live view or on the settings screen? On the D5200 I would make changes flip to live view and lose the settings , all sorted by turning movie mode off in the menu for shooting, now I can go over 1/50 secs and adjust aperture fully

Welcome to manual. Looks like the previous posts have you set up. I've been shooting manual since I started in the late 70's, so I don't know any better! Good luck and happy shooting.
