over the weekend I was taking some photographs with my camera, and when I looked back on them, (they were taken indoors with lights on) wherever a light was in the image, the photograph was flashing black. what is this please? is there something wrong with my camera. when I zoom in the flashing stops. its an image and nothing like this has ever happned before. I changed settings, even reset the camera, but if there is a light or a particular bright white on the image (a wedding dress in some instances, it was blinking a black splodge on my screen. :(

You have activated the "Highlight Warning" feature in playback. You can turn off this feature in the playback menu or just press the multi-selctor up/down to cycle through the playback modes.

Dear Elaine,
you mean the dark areas are flashing when you preview the image you have taken on the rear screen? I think this is no problem. When you are previewing the image try toggling with the up/down arrow buttons and you will toggle through the preview modes. If I understand what is happening correctly, the flashing is highlighting to you is that these are the areas of the photo which are under exposed. If you were to take a photo with over exposed areas these would also be highlighted.

Regards
Martin

I keep the highlights warning on all the time, sometimes you don't notice the blown areas of the photo until you back
in the comforts of your home,, and its like darn! if flashing area,, you want to decrease exposure time or pick a higher
aperature.. if this is new to you,, good time to research the topics.
