Re Tamron lenses for Nikon D5100

What details do I look for in buying a Tamron lens (28-300) for the Nikon D5100 camera...need to know the letters/numbers. I want the lens to work exactly, motor and focusing, etc., as my Nikor lens. I appreciate any help.

The main thing to do is to check on the site to see is it is comparable. Figure out what lens you want and then check back here to see if anyone has any experience with it,

You want THIS ONE.

Since your D5100 does not have an internal focus motor, you'll need a lens that does.
