    Happy with your D500?

The D500 has been out for 5 or so years now. Many on here have upgraded to the D500 from other cameras. I am thinking about doing the same from my D7100. I am mainly wanting faster focus and a larger buffer for more wildlife work. I think it may be a good compliment to my D750. Now that many have played with the D500 for sometime, how do you feel about the camera. All comments are welcome.

I am at 403,304 clicks. Quite pleased. Thinking I better order a few more as they are being discontinued and Nikon has no viable replacements in the works.

I ordered one a few days ago and can’t wait to get it. I found out that my normal place of purchase were low on stock so I thought I better move fast. @wev that is an amazing shutter count on your copy. Would it not be possible just to get a replacement shutter?

    Happy with your D500?
Walt, I went from the D7100 to the D7200 then to the D500. Both the D7200 and D500 have better sensors than the D7100, but the D500's sensor is even better than the D7200. The configuration of the top panel is different than what you have on the D7100 though. It lacks the mode dial for A, S, M, U1, U2, etc. So that's a little different. The body has the rear flip screen like the D750 which I've found to be helpful. Plus the lens calibration has automatic fine tuning so it skips the process of having to manually enter the value into the body as it will determine it for you. And the rat-a-tat-tat in continuous is amazing since the buffer doesn't fill nearly so fast. Going from the D7100 directly to the D500 is a worthwhile upgrade.

    Re: Happy with your D500?

Thanks to all for your responses. Before I asked the question, I had read through a lot of the D500 forum to see what has transpired over the past few years. I love the shots with the D500 section.

Anyway, I am trying to buy one through B&H, but I have to wait a few hours as they observe their Sabbath. They have it for just under $1500 with a WD external drive and SD card (2-4 week expected backorder). They had other packages too, but this fit my needs more than the others. I decided to go with the CFexpress card and reader too (Amazon).

Not sure, but I know the shops (B&H and Adorama) have them on backorder, but say they will be getting more soon. Nikon has said it is not making a replacement for the D500, so I assume it is only time for them to completely discontinue it in favor of the mirrorless cameras.
