has anyone ever used the Meike or Neewer battery grips on the D500?
they are significantly cheaper than the Nikon version (yes i know possibly not as well built)
i have the meike one on my D5300 and it works fine, has a hiccup occasionally telling me my official batteries are not correct but remove and reinstall bats its fine.
the D500 one uses AA bats or the EL15 like the nikon one so shouldn't be an issue i dont think

I bought a Pixel Vertax D17 grip for my D500 early on. A rarely use them except if I have a camera on a tripod with a remote and don't want to risk running out of battery, or in a situation where there's a good chance I need to shoot in portrait orientation a lot (not something that happens often with wildlife). Saved me a bunch of money and I've not had an issue with it. May not help you though since it no longer seems to be in production. I've only spent the money on a Nikon grip once - the first time.

I have a Meike grip, but it's on my D850. Great battery grip, though, in my opinion. Feel great, looks great, everything works as it should.

I don't have one, but I did shop a bit for them. The thing I noticed is that the third party grips I saw didn't have all the features of the Nikon grip. I don't know if that's the case with all of them, but just something to check.
