Easy exposure compensation

OK i am probably behind the times with this and every one else knows about it :D but thought i would mention it, i was moaning that one thing i missed from my Olympus gear was using the front dial for exposure compensation without having to press any butons.
Looks like this solves the problem for me, ok if ime using shutter priority it looks like i will have to shoot wide open, that though will be more than made up for with birds in flight by being able to adjust the exposure quickly while panning.

LOL. I was looking through the menus on my D500 yesterday looking for a setting and noticed easy exposure compensation and wondered what it was. So, at least one guy is further behind the times than you, Mike. I use both shutter speed and aperture dials all the time, though, so this isn't a solution for me.

I have no idea what you guys are referring to, but I hope it helps, Mike! ;) Mike lost me at if ime using shutter priority it looks like i will have to shoot wide open.... How does shooting wide open solve the issue? Don't the wheels/dials still work the same regardless of your aperture? Or are you overriding what one of the wheels/dials can do?

Could have phrased that better, i would be allocating the front dial to exposure compensation the back dial shutter speed. my assumption was the lens would stay wide open, i would use auto ISO, but i think ime looking at it wrong, need to rethink it when the brain is more alert.

Well, I am confused as ever. I know that the D500 has easy exposure compensation. I read about it, I still don't understand what it is.

OK, I can see how this might be useful if you aren't changing aperture, yes?

Yes, the situation i mainly use it in is BIF,I don't want to change my shutter speed ime shooting wide open on auto iso, the bird may fly past different backgrounds from heavy foliage to clear sky, i dont want to have to feel for the exposure compensation button so i can just turn the front dial.

That sound great. I'd love it for the same reasons only, i prefer to stop down whenever possible. So, it's Manual for me. Too bad we can't set the Aperture in the menu when in Shutter Priority. I often wish for a second rear dial for EC!

Thats the main advantage a EVF has over an OVF as you dial the compensation in you actualy see the exposure changing.
