I use the Lexar xqd reader. While I prefer not having to buy another card, it works great and isn't too expensive.

You can also download pics. from that camera to the Mac via bluetooth or wifi... the fastest would be to plug the SD card into the Mac

My main question is: Nikon add USB connection to the D500, Why not to use it? I Know all the other ways, But I don't want to "give up" to the simplest option, So lets found the way.

What is the problem?
Does your Mac recognize the camera when plugged in and turned on?
I have the same setup: D500, USB cable and Mac and it works without any problems.
Plugging in the DS card to the SD slot is also a good way, but for the XQD card you would need a reader.

1. plug in cable to camera and to USB
2. Turn ON camera
3. Disk icon appears on desktop screen
4. click on disk icon with Finder
5. Finder Opens disk, displaying files
6. drag/drop file to desktop

Starting at the beginning above. Which step Does NOT work?

Okay... do you NOT want that to happen? It will download the photos from the camera to your computer... Isn't that what you want to happen?

I don't want Photos to download my photos from the D500. BTW, It only shows me the JPEG photos.
What I want is to be able to see the D500 card as icons on my Mac and to be able to download them to my preferred folder.
Of course, I can do it by pulling out the cards, But I though that the USB connection will serve me as a regular HD.

Unfortunately you thought wrong. Your computer knows you've connected a camera when you use the cable and wants to be all "helpful" and take charge of what happens next. As has already been pointed out the best solution is to simply put the SD card in the computers media reader directly and use the computers file browser to manage your files.

No not on the D500 it does not show up that way; not sure why but need to blame the software engineers at Nikon. That being said I did it your way several times and always had an UNEASY feeling plugging in and out the micro USB 3.0 cable that I had nightmares that I would some how break the connector off the printed circuit board. I bought a SONY XQD combo card reader. The XQD card is more robust physically compared to the SDXC ][ card that I do not mind taking it out.
Yes you can use terminal to stop photos.app from coming up I just used command + Q to quit and open the card icon and move the files to the hard drive.
So the real question you should ask "How much damage to D500 if the connector breaks compared to the card insertions?" Keep it simple.
