New D500 firmware released today, Snapbridge for IOS (but doesn't work for me!).
Few bits and pieces but nothing that many people would have been waiting for to resolve issues.

Nikon | Download center | D500

If anyone gets Snapbridge on IOS to work please let me know, it won't pair for me. :(

I got it to work after the firmware update, but it was very frustrating. I got failed to pair messages for a couple of hours. I finally got it to connect, but everything it does is very slow. My camera showed to be connected to the phone (6s) under Bluetooth in the menu but my phone wasn't pairing to the camera. I told the camera to forget the phone pairing and started over and it worked. They also don't make it clear that the password you set is not the Wifi password. That is generically set to NIKOND500.

So if you have a D500 with Snapbridge running, anyone that knows the NIKOND500 password can hack into your camera? Hopefully you can change the password.

What would someone gain by hacking into your camera? It's not like anyone keeps their bank account information on there?

As abominable as it sounds, as incomprehensible as it may seem to any normal, rational person with so much as a shred of humanity in the entirety of their being, there is known to exist in... certain parts of the world, shall we say, a grotesque but thriving market with an accursed economy based solely on... black market vacation photos. Yes, it's true. Difficult at best, even emotionally painful to contemplate, but very, very real. And once your precious memories are in the hands of these despicable, unscrupulous denizens of the Dark Web, they become nothing more than just so many "poker chips" in a card game so foul and devoid of human decency most of us can not begin to understand it. The threat is real my friend. The threat IS real.
