I think I've converted my wife

I had a major clear out and trimming back a year or so ago. Sold my film cameras and some digital bits and pieces to adopt the K.I.S.S. principle.

So, all I have now are two D50 bodies, a few lenses, a flash and a tripod, that's it.

OK, the D50 may be old, but I really rate them, particularly the flexibility in lens choice and well it's a Nikon.

Anyway, back to the story.

The other evening my better half asked, do you have a DSLR, someone told me I need one,.....err yes I do.

Great, I need one for updating my companies website pages.

A quick twenty minute tutorial describing the basics and she is taking shots like an old hand.

She loves it and is off this morning carrying out her first shoot.:)

mmm, I'm a body and lens short now, but it's birthday time soon.:)

Long term update :)

I asked my better half to bring home "her" D50 last week as I wanted to check out the lens on another body.

Anyway she had passed the photo taking on to another member of staff, but still used the D50.

Me being curious I checked out the camera settings and images.
The images looked very good and natural seemingly without any flash.
Then checked the settings, someone had changed the ISO to 1600.

The companies web designer now updates and takes the website pictures, the wife thinks they use a Canon. (There seems to be a lot more Canons than Nikons sold or up for sale secondhand over here)

I have to say the earlier D50 images do look much better, maybe down to the CCD sensor. The web designers images look dull and flat in comparism.
It could be down to bad image adjustments, not sure.

Whatever, I'll be hanging on to the D50's for some time yet.:)

(And I'm back into film again, the urge came back )

D50 was my first Nikon Digital, sorry I traded it off for such small money.
I later read that it has some very unique flash capability.

Yes, the flash speed is 1/500.

The other good feature is that it is the only entry level dslr of the era which has an autofocus motor.
