Walmart and the d50

I was in walmart the other day... I don't usually go there since they never have what I am looking for and if they do, its of cheap quality.
Anyway, I was blown away when I saw the store had a Nikon d50 on the display rack with a price of around 500.00. I didn't even think these were in production anymore... let alone being sold at Walmart.

You're right -- the D50 was obsoleted in late 2006, so is over seven years old now. They must have found it in the back room somewhere. At 6.1 Megapixels, DX format and with a battery that's likely shot for $500, it doesn't sound like much of a bargain to me. It does have a motor in the body to power older AF lenses however.

Me either. I had to pick it up and look at it to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing. I even asked a walmart associate, but of course they didn't know what they were talking about. Told me it was a professional grade state of the art camera. It was the only Nikon dslr on the shelf

Sadly some unknowing customer will buy it for his retired wife to take on their trips. You ought to show them the production date and offer them 100-150 for it..

I was going to stop by on my way home tonight and take a picture of it on the shelf just for proof. I may offer 50.00. :)

Yeah, and apparently they are selling the floor model, so it would need to be sent in before you could use it
