Is the Nikon D6 for you?

'Most Advanced DSLR Ever' - I'd certainly hope so since it is the flagship DSLR :)

Honestly, any D5 users ever ask yourself you wish the camera did more? D4/D4s users?

The D1 was introduced 20 years ago in 1999. Fourteen flagship cameras in 20 years? Really? Keep buying the new cameras and leave the great used deals for the rest of us :)

1999 D1
2001 D1X
2001 D1H
2003 D2H
2005 D2Hs
2004 D2X
2006 D2Xs
2007 D3
2009 D3S
2008 D3X
2012 D4
2014 D4S
2016 D5
2019 D6

Have to think about this, will i buy a new car or a D6 :D I think Nikon is concerned the core users will move away if they don't want mirrorless.

The D6 is definitely not the camera for me. I'll be curious to see the sticker price and the final tech spec's, of course, but my current D850 is sooo much more camera than I honestly need, it's ridiculous.

But how much better is the D850 than the D750 when it comes to low light performance as well as noise?

Serious question?

I ask because 1) There's no simple answer, 2) I don't want to start the conversation if this is rhetorical and 3) My responses would be based on my practical experience: I don't do controlled experiments under laboratory conditions for laser-guided statistical analysis (I leave that to the "Photography Engineers" among us) nor am I interested in getting dragged into That Sort of Discussion *bats eyelashes*.

Cheers! :)

Yes, it was a serious question, but no worries. You were such a fan of the D750 that I wondered what it was about the D850 that raised the bar. I love my D750 and would be hard pressed to look at any other FX body myself.

Take care and no need to explain your reasoning. ;)

I am with Mike... I will need a new car before the the D6... Besides I have turned to the EVF side and likely could not come back... ;)

Definitely not. Way too much money for my comfort, plus I'm not a pro and I feel like that's the only kind of photographer who would possibly need a camera like that.

If I were going to spend thousands getting to the Olympics in Tokyo (I am not) and needed a $7k camera (I do not) to go along with several multi thousand dollar lenses (I don't have) then sure- I guess so. Probably not til I win the Lotto though.

I am with you on the EVF, yes at the moment it not quiet top notch for action (close) but on every thing else i much prefer it.

If money was no object, sure. It would certainly be a really fun toy.

If I was shooting pro soccer, basketball, football and getting paid well, sure I'd want one.

But I'm not rich and I don't shoot for Sports Illustrated, so my D500 does the job just fine.

Not that I am hot to trot to get one, having just gotten a D850 several months back, but the introduction of the D6 will definitely drop the prices of D5's!

New car? What the hell are you driving? :)

I have been shooting with Nikons since the F4, then F5. I got a D2X when they were new and I just bought a a used D5, w/17K shutter releases. That should be enough camera for me for quite a while.
