Suddenly, after the vacation, my Nikon D4s is stone dead. It hasn't been used for weeks. It gets electricity so the battery works, but nothing else works. Can I have locked it somehow? Strange ???

I changed memory card and now it works again. A brand new Extreme CF PRO 64gb. It completety locked the camera. I haven't experienced this before. Does anyone know what it is?

Was the card formatted in the camera before it locked?

I am not 100% sure it was formatted with that camera. But the card didn't want to format in the camera when I tried. I tried three other CF-cards too and they didn't want to format either (The XQD-Card works). There might be something wrong with the pins in the camera? Maybe they can't read the cards?

I move cards around to different cameras all the time, and never reformat them. Even moving between a Sony and a Nikon. Never had any trouble with cards.

Sounds like your CF card bay is damaged :(. Send it to Nikon.

Same here: Nikon, Leica, Canon... 20+ cameras in total. I don't think I have ever formatted a memory card, it is a waste of time.

I always format in camera before a wedding. never had an issue except what seemed like corrupt files from a wedding a few years back but realized its a defective card reader.
