My friend (my mentor and best friend) bought the D4s yesterday. he looked it over a bit, but today in the morning did some quick checks and this is just amazing. were still trying to understand if what were seeing is believable. 70-200 VR2, no tripod, just a casual shoot, just to see how it behaves. this is just amazing. he knew itd be better than his D4..something like what the D3s is vs the D4. but this is just amazing. shame it doesnt get the proper exposure. they really outdid themselves and canon was way behind them with the high iso, but this is anew level.

straight from the memory card. iso 20000 f/3.5 handheld. high iso NR on hi. contrast at full. image size on large/normal. nef is a bit better by the reviews but jpeg is a different thing all together. we dont shoot nef for weddings. waste of time. its a new standard others will be judged by.

That is pretty darn good. It makes me want to get one. I'm getting mixed reviews from the ones who upgraded from D4 to D4s. Some regretted selling their D4 for the additional features that the D4s offers.

The way I view it. The lens also gave the image a character.

I'm impressed by what the D4 has to offer. Not impressed by what few upgrades the D4s has over the D4. Most of the upgrades have to do with Live view. You would think when Nikon comes out with a new body especially one that will replace the top pro body, you would see more significant upgrades than what I've read. Of course when my D3s time is up I will be replacing it with one of the D4 family.

When he sent it i was shocked. "Pretty good" huh? No camera delivers this kind of iq. Low noise and detail together. Pretty good. Pretty damn amazing. :)

And the image was in L/medium and handheld. The lens is elite as well. But no camera can do what u see here. I was shocked when i first opened the image. 20000 iso? Just a new level altogether. He has the D4 as well and the D3s. He always gets the newest toys.

$4k is nuts for a manual focus lens IMO...That 4k could go towards the D4s...The Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 is aimed at that Otus and has AF...

If I was filthy rich, I wouldnt buy that lens. lets see what the sigma can do, but that focal length is just boring anyway and to spend more than $500 for a standard 50 1.4 is extreme imo. give me an 85 or 105 or 135 and im happy.

my limit is $600. so its out. the next on my list the 50 1.8G the 50 1.4g is way too slow with AF. and Im very much considering the 50 1.4D because of the aperture ring. goodbye sigma. smoking crack there.

Besides, you don't want a Sigma, anyway. If and when you go to sell your lenses your ROI is far greater (almost 2x) with Nikkor lenses than with 3rd party lenses. When you view your lens inventory by their resale value you see that you're merely "renting" these lenses and if the rent on a better lens is less than on a 3rd party lens, it becomes a pretty easy choice.

you know what, I think ill probably get 2. the 50 1.8g for stills (because from tests its very nice even into the corners) and the 50 1.4D for video only. I did think of getting a 50 1,4 AI/AIS just for video but for $50 bucks more or so, I can get the AFD which is chipped and I have AF. so that can be used as a backup. and all in all cheaper than the $800 sigma.

Dave I agree. The Zeiss 55mm f1.4 APO and the Nikon 200mm f2. These are on my wishlist. I haven't pulled the trigger on the 200mm f2 due to it's bulk but I think that would be a nice portrait lens for wedding type photography.

The Zeiss appeals a lot to me since I know how sharp they can be and you can pretty much see every pores and skin imperfections when you shoot with it. ::what:: :victorious:

Of all the PROs that I have known, you are the one who complain too much about prices. I was expecting more from you. Jk! LOL! ;)

The way I look at it, 4 to 5 years from now, the value of the D4s will be around 40% of its original MSRP from its release date unlike the great lenses that you buy now. They will retain a good 80% of their value.

A fairly famous quote about photographers. I'm sure there is some truth to it to some level. LOL!

"Amateurs worry about equipment, professionals worry about money, masters worry about light... I just take pictures."
