D4 Refurb, is Roberts camera reliable?

I was thinking about picking up a D4 refurbished.
Roberts camera has issued me temporary credit coupon to get the D4 for $4700 Refurbished.

My two questions are:

1. Is Robert Camera reliable and trustworthy?

2. Is it really worth saving $1300 To buy a refurbished D4?

Roberts camera stated that I would get a 90 day warranty from them and from that Nikon so that means I would have 180 days of warranty

What are your thoughts My fellow Nikonites?

As long as it is factory refurbished by Nikon I don't see a problem. In fact, you have the assurance that it was checked/tested twice by Nikon. Once when it was originally leaving the factory and again when it was refurbished to like new specification. You'll know if it is factory refurbished as it will come in a grey-silver Nikon box instead of the gold box.

What crycocyon said: my sentiments exactly. If it is a Nikon Factory refurb, I would not have any hesitation. In regards to Roberts Camera, I have never heard of them. But, the USA is a big place. I would just do you due diligence, as in any business transaction and make sure that everything is to your satisfaction. First thing to make sure of: camera is a Nikon Factory Refurb, not a refurb done in Bill & Teds basement.

I believe I've purchased from Roberts Camera via Ebay without incident. They are a legit store... based in Indianapolis I believe.

Let us know how you like the D4 when you get it....I'd like a second FX camera but am still on the fence about the D4. $4700 for refurbished is a pretty reasonable deal.

Everything I have perchased as related to my D90 has been factory referb'ed. No issues or even any negative experiences with any of my gear. It all still looks brand new.

No problem selling it as I've seen factory refurbished Nikon cameras being sold before on Ebay. In fact, knowing a bit more about its history is a good thing for a prospective buyer. D4's go on ebay for a lot of money ($4700 is possible actually, usually around $4200-4500 or even lower). Unless a D4x or D4s comes out you won't have a problem selling it and even then, look at how much D3s and D3x cameras are going for used, even with higher shutter counts? A D4 will always be in demand for those who need that kind of camera.

I would assume higher, 6k new, I do see a lot of the for sale used going as high as $5500.00

Congrats - can never have enough D4's :)

I concur. I couldnt pass up a $800 discount LOL. I have a pretty much brand new D4 for $4700.00.

Also I plan on getting the WT5 transmitters and setting them up on tripods during a reception and controlling them from my macbook. I plan to do this for many other ideas as well.

I now have two D4's, D800E, and D7100. So I am pretty much covered. LOL or at least I hope. I was going to get a D600 instead of the D7100 however, I am glad I got the D7100 as its one of the best cameras I have ever used.

The D4 just does things others cant. Until the D4s comes out this year, or D4x not sure which one yet.

Wow you sure do have everything covered, great ideas too. I heard Nikon is supposed to, (according to Thom Hogan)come out with a D400 & a D4x this August. The D4x will most likely be a D800 sensor beefed up and tweaked. The D400 is going to be interesting because it's going to have to be better than the D7100 yet not effect the D800 sales interesting times ahead.
