Wired transfer of video from D3400 direct to iPad

Hi,

Is it possible to transfer videos, or even photos for that matter, direct from the D3400 to an iPad/iPhone. I have a lighting to micro USB adapter and then a micro usb to micro usb wire between the two devices and watching other general videos (not d3400 specific) it seems once plugged into photos and I assume videos should just come up on the imported section of the photos app on my iOS device. But this doesn’t seem to happen.

Is there some reason this function would work on cameras in general but not the D3400 or am I not selecting a certain setting on the camera that enables photos transfer. I am aware for photos I can use SnapBridge but this post is mainly for videos etc.

I am also aware using the lighting to sd card reader should do the trick but that will be another cable purchase I’d rather not have to do.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Maybe you need this + the original camera cable.

Android won't use storage devices with just any cable that fits, it needs a special OTG adapter. I think apple is similar in that it needs a smarter cable. But I'm just guessing, I don't know much about apple. The camera should present as a storage device without an app, I can read my nikons from windows as if they were a flash drive. Never tried on Android, but I would need that OTG adapter.

I went back and did some reading. Apparently, you need the Apple Camera Adapter kit for the iPad. Whatever that is. I guess it is their version of the OTG as nickt pointed out. Good luck.
