Remote viewing on PC but not smartphone?
Howdy folks, my name is Rick. First time on your forum, and of coarse I need help. I bought my first DSLR a d3400 about one month ago. Everything has gone along well, until I tried to live view on my cell. I have tried every app on google play that I could find. None worked. DigiCamControl works with my PC thru a cable. I thought Bluetooth would work, but i read some place that the bluetooth on the D-3400 was too weak, so as not to use to much battery power.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.
Sorry I can't help you either. From everything I have heard, Bluetooth and Snap-bridge are both pretty weak on Nikon Cameras, so I have never even bothered to try them.Brent: Poway, CA

Your question needs refinement...
Live Viewing within the context of what your describing is called tethering... That's different than viewing images from your camera on a computer.
One simply entails viewing the images on the camera that have already been taken and the other entails viewing a LIVE image on the camera and using the tethering software to control the camera...

Correct... The D3400 doesn't have true Wifi... Nikon uses a Bluetooth implementation to talk to SnapBridge (or whatever it's called)... I'm not sure whether that camera supports Nikon's Wifi dongle thingy that talks to their cell phone apps. It might...

I found this link (might be Nikon Canada). I don't think the Nikon adapter will work. It gives the options available.

So it looks like either SnapBridge or tethering....Cindy

I had a D3400 and I used Snapbridge to move selected images to my phone. It worked well once I figured out how to do it. The camera store where I bought my camera helped me get it set up. I never tried tethering that camera so I don't know if it is capable of doing that. I have since upgraded to a D7200.

Thank you for your response. No, all Snapbridge does is to send your pics to your phone. No live view as far as i know. I would like to be able to take photos at ground level, which is hard for me being I am 72, and see the live view on my cell.. If I missed something on Snapbridge please let ne know. As I stated DigiCamControl, does everything I want and more. The problem is I don't want to have to be tethered to my laptop. Would just like to connect or tether to my cell.

TY for your response. Yes I guess I should have said tethering instead of "thru a cable". You have to excuse my ignorance, being I only advanced beyond snapshots a month ago.
