Camera Lighting

Hello,

I am using a Nikon D3400.
When I place my hand in front of the camera, the camera adds additionallighting, brightening the scene which is visible in the display.
When I remove my hand away from the front of the camera, there is less lightingand the scene is more dim.
How do I set the camera to have consistent lighting whether my hand is in frontof the camera or not?
I am using the camera for video recording.

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

First off, why are you putting you hand in front of the camera? Second, which scene has the desired exposure, with or without your hand?

It's probably because when the camera metering system sees your hand in the picture, it is darker than the background, so it compensates.
