Nikon D3400 Announced

My teen is itching for a DSLR and has been looking at the D3300. Maybe the price will fall on it now that it's been obsoleted.

These likely outperform my D5100!

Prices on the D3300 will undoubtedly fall and yeah, they do outperform the D5100. Not by a lot, but the lack of the OLPF in and of itself makes them desirable in my book.

Now I'm curious if the D3400 will have an OLPF or not. Hmmmmm... That's a good question.

Apart from Snapbridge, bluetooth and better battery life there is no difference from D3300. With lower price the D3300 will now be an excellent buy.

Per my post of 08/17/2016, my parents, the in-laws and my wife and I all went in to buy a D3300 Kit for my teen's birthday is next week. Bought the Body/Lens Kit (w/18-55mm DX VR II lens), Nikon WU-1a wireless mobile adapter, Lowepro bag, 32GB Class 10 Card and Nikon Lens Cloth from Crutchfield for $499.95, and all with a 60 Day money back guarantee. The kid will make good use of it I'm sure and we'll have a third generation Nikon fan in the family. :D

On the whole, it appears to me like a step backward from the D3300 or the D3200. It looks like they've removed more than they've added. Weaker flash, no external microphone input, no IR remote sensor on the back…

Why would anyone buy this instead of buying a D3300?

That is why even after 70,000 clicks I am retaining my D3300.
