Timestamp problem

I just got home from a trip, and I was going through all of my raw files, which I copied to my computer. I noticed that the time created was wrong on some. As an example, I have two images that show they were taken 13 minutes apart. But those two locations were 88 miles from each other. Also I keep a log of all the stops I make on a road trip, and with spending time in places along the way, I arrived at the second location just shy of three and half hours after leaving the first.

On another side point, I just checked the date and time settings on the camera itself, and it was set three hours off, which doesn't explain the timestamps being inconsistent with each other, but I know I had set that when I got the camera (about a year and a half ago).

I've never noticed this issue before and wondering if anyone else has come across this.

Are you traveling through different time zones? Maybe the 88 miles apart picture was actually 1 hour and 13 minutes apart but due to time zone change something was not able to compensate. The time stamps that you're looking at... are they from the EXIF data? Or is it the computer's "properties" of the actual file. Maybe if you can compare the two it might yield some clues.

The whole trip was all in the same timezone. But as far as I know the D3300 doesn't have anyway to know what time it actually is, other than the settings. I was going by what the computer showed, but I just checked the EXIF info, and it matches the computer.

One long shot and i dont know how it could work, when you take the battery out for charging the camera should have a battery that keeps the clock ect running then it charges from the main battery, this little fella could be playing up.

I have no knowledge of your camera but i guess it works like this.
