Connecting Nikon D3300 to a TV and using it instead of Live View mode.

Hi,

I own a Nikon D3300. I was wondering how can I connect it to a TV and using it as a bigger screen, when I make video at home.
So instead of using Live View when recording I would connect the camera with a HDMI cable to a TV and view the picture there.

Can it be done? How?

Please help.

Thank you!

On the left side of the camera you will find under a cover an HDMI port and a USB port. Just get the appropriate cable and your set. Although some cameras only let you view images and not the live view option. Not sure on your camera. Also When shooting tethered with Nikon. You can't view the image until it has been taken. Unlike Canon which you can.

Yeah, my camera lets me view an image or playback a video. I'm interested if I'm missing something or if I have to choose a setting to make it work...

Not sure about D3300 but previously done that on a D7000, plug in cable, turn on TV, switch on LiveView, done. No settings were needed.

With the latest version of DigiCam Control, you get "Live View" on your computer screen. In fact the moment you connect the camera to computer using USB and start DigiCam, the camera relinquishes its settings and passes all controls to the computer (including settings and live view).
