Hi all

i turned on my nikon d3200 today to find a black screen, It is black ALL the time i have taken a couple of photos and had a look on my computer and the camera is taking photos fine.

I am presuming it might be the lcd screen thats the problem would people agree with this?

If it is the lcd screen could i have recommendations where i can get a good one from in uk please

No display on the screen when you press the Menu button or Information button?

Is the camera under warranty? If so, send it to Nikon... If not, you can still get a quote from them to fix it, but be prepared to make a decision whether to fix it or throw it out and get a new one when you see what it costs to fix.

Dont know if your thinking of doing it yourself,no idea what sort of job it would be but you can pick spares up on ebay

Dont know why it says that but the link works for me

That looks like it would be a neat repair (for only 8 Pounds) to try!

It would be a shame to button it all up and discover that it is the circuit board that the LED plugs INTO, that is bad...

...and it seems every link to eBay says "invalid link", but works anyway. I have seen it on here before.

Hi

Well I think I will possibly get a LCD screen and try to repair it as if you send it in to be fixed I think it would cost more than the camera is worth

Here is a tutorial video on a D3100! Lucky you!

One of the comments:
Fantastic video and it worked perfectly following the clear and concise step by step instructions (5/29/16). Only thing I would add is that there are clips to hold the ribbon cables in place (they can pull out but the cables will not push back in without undoing the clips). On the wider of the two ribbon cables, there is an off white clip that needs to be flipped up and then insert the cable and then flip it down. For the smaller ribbon cable there is a black clip that needs to be pulled out and then the cable inserted and the black clip pushed back. Otherwise everything went great. Thanks so much.

The author agreed.
