There are several applications that will let you see this information. One of them is IRFanview, a free image viewer/editor.

Another free application that will get the job done (on JPG's only) would be Acute EXIF Viewer.

Here's the EXIF data, as captured by IRFanview, for the exact some photo as above (some info has been redacted):

Yes, I am resurrecting an old thread. I am trying to find the serial number of a lens used for images. Is there a way to do this? I downloaded IRFanview, but the info doesn't show up in the EXIF. Any suggestions?

I don't think any manufacturer does that. Nikon records the camera SN, but not the lens.
Don't mind me... I'm out roaming around somewhere between Zone III and VII.

I'm thinking it's highly unlikely you're going to find that information. I've never seen that information show up in EXIF data and, frankly, I'd be pretty surprised if it was a part of the data.

Of course I could be wrong but I'll bet you a Diet Dr. Pepper I'm right on this.

You may very well be correct, Paul. In your original post, you X'd out some of the info. Since the lens' serial number was X'd out, I didn't know if you did that, or if the EXIF viewer couldn't read it. Thanks for your help!
