Hi new to the site here as well as dslr photography I have not tried this but it is my understanding that using a f lens on a 3200 will magnify over the same lens in a crop sensor lens is this true and why?

It's not a magnification. The sensor is smaller, so it crops out the edges of the image that the lens can see.

It is equivalent to increasing the zoom by 50%. (I.e., when a 50mm FX lens is used on a DX camera, you see the same thing you would as a 75mm FX lens would show in an FX/35mm camera.)
