Hi I'm new to the forum and I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not.

I've found friend of a friend selling their Nikon D3200 with a 55-200mm VR lese, I don't know any more information about the lens. She will Sell me the camera, lens, tripod and 32gb card for $250, doyou guys think its worth it?
I currently have a Sony Alpha A57 with a few different lens’s,which I will be giving to my girlfriend if I get this Nikon.

That sounds like a pretty good deal if the actuation count is low. But I would check eBay to see what that model of Nikon is running first though! :)

Welcome to the website.

You could make a offer for the camera, saying you have checked the prices and offer say $200

That is a good buy. The lens is worth $100-125 alone. Great starter setup for sure.

Since you feel strongly enough @carguy my friend to click the disagree button, I thought I'd explain myself for you. I wasn't talking about money value of that lens, but lens quality for use. I believe the 18-55 or the 55-300 are superior to the 55-200. That was all, since the OP stated that model wasn't selling good.

That kit is a great buy. Could easily sell that 55-200 for $100 and buy a new 18-55 for the same $
D3200, 55-200 & 18-55 kits sell for $425-$480 all day long.
I'd buy it and flip it in a second :)

I don't buy for resale in mind. Just to fill a need or want, so if the OP is a seller then your ways sounds good! :) I would just buy what I wanted/needed at good price that fills my needs/wants. Buying for resale profit is out of my field of interest! Lol :)

$250 is a very nice deal. I researched the hell out of these a few weeks ago before having to settle with a D3100 with both kit lenses. And paid $300 ( my spending limit ). I couldn't touch a D3200 for much less than 400 that was in good shape. Found some closer to $300 but there always seemed to be something wrong. Minor stuff I might add like a scuffed up plastic around the camera or missing battery door, etc...

So I think you would have done quite well for $250 providing it is in pretty good condition.

Exactly. They could add a 18-55 to that kit for $99 or less and still be well ahead

I would stay away from D3200, when the D3300 with is 18-55 is priced marginally higher, and the combination is much superior. Here is a link, which has the D3300+18-55 as low as $430. for less than $200 you get a new and a better deal, which in long term wont matter as you will be spending more in acquiring gear in future.

The D3200 prices are marginally lower

I would buy it depending on the condition, age wise it can't be older than 2012, officially launched by Nikon on April 19, 2012, new at Wal-mart it's 439$ plus tax for the 18-55 VR lens. Sounds like a good deal to me, you have the upper edge because she wants to sell it, I would show her 10 20$ bills and I'd bet she will snatch it.

Does that not also include the 18-55mm lens? I don't think there was ever any option to buy the D3200 new, that didn't include the 18-55. If the only lens you have with that camera is the 55-200, then you'll almost certainly wish you had a shorter lens for most uses.
