Upgrading from D50 to D3200 | New Lens?

    Good Day,

My D50 is on its last legs and I've been looking at the D3200. The current lenses I have for my D50 are:

    -AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G
    -AF-S DX Nikkor 55-20mm 1:4-5.6G

Does anyone know if these lenses will work fine for my basic shooting needs with the D3200, or should I get a new lens? My picture taking needs are pretty basic, but I also want to be sure my lens will work the the new video features on the D3200.

    Thanks

Those lenses will work just fine with the new camera and any other DSLR Nikon makes. I am not sure if they are well suited to video.

Those are the two lenses that came in the kit with my D3200, so yeah they are fine. Many would recomend getting a 35 1.8 or a 50 1.8 prime as they will give you sharper images and better low light performance. Personally I plan on going for the 50 1.8 but that just depends on what you like shooting.
    I'm sure you'll love your D3200, I love mine!

If you are interested in Video, I suggest you save up and get the D3300.

I know it costs more, a couple of hundred dollars is worth it.
. The new kit 18-55 is much better than the older one.
. It has a faster processor, hence video frame rate is higher.
. Omitting the AA filter results in a slightly sharper image.
. The in camera HDR feature works pretty well, if you are interested in a fast out of the box solution.
