How to Take Panoramic Picture?

Hey All!

I am new at this Forums. I have recently got Nikon D3200 AF-S NIKKOR 18 -55mm as a gift by my husband.
I have many questions in mind about the photography with this lens. But I will start with how to take a Panaroma Picture by Nikon D3200.

Have you ever tried that? Please tell me the settings in detail. I would like to try that as well.

Thanks

Thanks For Replying Horoscope Fish and for the link as well. But can you tell me how to set the camera in Panorama mode? Hope it is not something too childish to ask.

Thanks

Re: How to Take Panaromic Picture?

I am not sure but I don't think that the D3200 has the ability to shoot Panoramas directly in the camera like many point and shoot cameras do. You will have to shoot the series of individual photos correctly and then using software to stitch them together. Photoshop has the capability to do this but if you don't have that there are many less expensive programs that can do it. One free one that is pretty good is Microsoft ICE Thye have tutorials on the site that will walk you through it

The 3200 does not have a Panorama mode, you'll need to assemble the photos manually and use software to stitch the photos into your final panoramic shot.

I cannot imagine any camera can implement a Panorama mode that aligns and assembles multiple frames.

The Panorama mode in the APS film cameras was just the same old picture, simply seriously cropped at top and bottom to make the remainder be long and thin. You can do that to any image in your photo editor.

Main rule for panoramas. Set all automation off. Auto focus, auto exposure, auto ISO, all off. You don't want any changes as you go frame to frame.

Really? It's not uncommon these days...

Most [Olympus] SP and Stylus model cameras have an in-camera panorama mode. This mode captures three images and stitches them together to create one amazing panoramic picture right inside your camera. By simply selecting the mode, pressing the shutter button and then slowly panning across the scene, take up to 3 images and the camera seamlessly combines them.

From this Olympus website.

Quite a few of the point and shoots do it. We have an old Kodak digital that will do it. My iPhone does a great job with panoramas. Of course I like doing mine with one of my Nikons and Photoshop better.

This guy's tube video was very helpful to me. I think along with the articles other have mention it should help you get the picture!

While it can be beneficial to use a tripod, don't miss an opportunity just because your sticks aren't available. Of course in low light situations you're at the mercy of physics. I use the gridlines in my viewfinder to establish the overlap points. Also, for many purposes it makes sense to use a normal or longer focal length - wide angle can introduce some perspective problems. Interesting tips here highendbeautyretouching.com/blog/fashion/panorama-photography-tips.html
