Will Nikkor Q 135mm f3.5 work with my D3100?

According to Nikon's website, in searching the question: "Can I use my lens from my old camera on a new digital SLR?" it says that "Non-AI lenses Nikkor-Q, -P other non-AI lenses were designed long before digital cameras and cannot be used on any D-SLR or late model film SLR."

Will this lens function with my D3100? I realize I will have to switch to manual mode for everything, but in doing so, will I still be able to use this lens? I appreciate all help and responses. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site! You can, you just won't be able to meter with it, meaning the camera won't be able to adjust the aperture and shutter speed depending on the amount of light available. So yeah, everything will be a manual setting.

Thanks for your quick response! I figured all manual would be the case; I just didn't want to get the lens and then it be useless to me, at least with the D3100. Thanks again!
