Nikon D3100 HDMI Port

Hi Guys

I've got a question regrading Nikon D3100 and wondering if any of you have an answer for it

I do photoshoots for my wife's fashion boutique and have recently purchased a wireless remote control shutter release - such as this: Amazon.com : BestDealUSA Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon D3100 D7000 : Camera Shutter Release Cords : Camera & Photo so I can position the camera on tripod perfectly and then click from distance without disturbing the camera and thereby getting sharper results

To make my life even more easier I would love to add an external monitor such as this : Aliexpress.com : Buy Viltrox Portable DC 50 HD Clip on LCD 5inch Monitor Wide View HDMI Cable with Carrying Bag for Canon Nikon Sony DSLR Camera DV from Reliable bag insulated suppliers on Shenzhen Tomtop Technology Co., Ltd. | Alibaba Group - it comes with a hotshoe mount and will be perfect for viewing shots from a couple of feet away. So the above config sounds great! However!!!! there is only 1 hdmi port in the camera and therefore i'm not sure if it will be able to support both the devices. I guess it's complicated as even if I use a double HDMI adapter - one signal (monitor) is coming out of the camera , while i'm trying to send one signal to the camera with remote

Has anyone got any ideas, views, suggestions to make the above work? Thanks in advance guys

Regards
Sam

I don't know anything about using the external monitor, but the remote release plugs into the accessory jack, not hdmi. So having only one hdmi should not matter.

I assume you want to view the image AFTER it is shot. Why not use the eye-if mobi card (wireless) and a IPad, laptop, etc.?

Thank you! for your reply & suggestion - wow! didn't realise there was a SD card that could transmit data wirelessly = so amazing!
Still trying to get my head around this = but if it's wifi then I will need some sort of router & internet connectivity i suppose. Since the shoots are done in an outside location the above option may not be the 'solution' for me , unless there is a card that can bluetooth to the laptop directly ...now that would be awesome! :)

Thanks! nonetheless

Hi Nick - you are correct!!! how did I miss that :) the remote goes in accessorie jack and therefore leaves HDMI free...don't know how I got confused about both using HDMI's - so all good except! both the monitor and wireless remote received can be mounted on hot shoe and therefore i will need some sort of hot shoe adapter or Articulating Magic Arm such as this : 11'' Articulating Magic ARM Super Clamp Crab Plier Clip FOR Camera Monitor GT | eBay

or this: Extension BAR Triple HOT Shoe Mount Adapter Bracket Camera Camcorder | eBay

That should do the trick

Thank You! :)

Sometimes I would just let mine hang if it was just a few quick shots. Not much weight to it and I was not moving the camera around at all. That connector is pretty solid, not wiggly like the usb's.

No router needed. The wi-if card transmits it's own signal. Just connect with any wi-if compatible device and use their free app to view, transmit, and save.
