Wireless trigger for D3100?

I'm wondering if there are any shutter release wireless triggers for the d3100? How big are they? Has anyone have one and would like to share some feedbacks on their brand? Does it draw battery of it's own or does it take it from the camera?

Im on my phone so I can't post a direct link, but go the "flash" forum and look for the thread. "Just got my blazeo speedlight triggers" a link is provided where to get them and some pictures by curt. They seem to work pretty well according to him. Hope that helps!

I'm sorry for the confusion, I'm actually looking for a shutter release wireless trigger... I was thinking about it too much that when I post, I neglected the fact that there are flash wireless triggers :p

Oh wow, Fail on my part. Haha. Sorry about that. I have the ML-L3. Works great for me, 15 bucks on amazon, can get it cheaper if bought used!

Amazon and B&H Photo both sell these. I searched for "Nikon Wireless Remote". There is an RF transmitter, and a receiver that plugs into the accessory port where the cable release would normally connect
The Amazon Version is here.

While the D3100 does not have an IR receiver built in, you can still get shutter releases that operate wirelessly. One part of the unit is connected to the camera and the trigger communicates with that wirelessly.

I have one from Pixel (www.pixelhk.com, although I picked mine up from Amazon Marketplace), it's cheap but does the job. Works up to 100m, allows use of all shooting modes and only requires AAA batteries (2 for each unit, included).

Im really really surprised the d3100 doesn't have a built in receiver, I mean the camera just came semi recently...

Thanks everyone.. And Fox - I guess Nikon are those ones who will be giving you one big step forward on the new product, but taking out two useful functions..

Those look soo big. Are there smaller ones? :p

I had a similar need a while back and ended up building my own. Specifically, I wanted a wireless release that worked with my iPhone. I've since polished it up into a nice little product: Shutterbug Remote

-Wireless using bluetoothLE (no wifi hotspot, no IR line of sight) with >100ft range
-Advanced controls like long exposure, intervalometer, ramp, mirror lockup
-VERY small and light
-Free app

Feel free to contact me on the thread or directly via [email protected] if you have any questions.
